No blazers. No briefcases. No HR booths with paper forms. Just laptops, game quests, and the Metaversity.
At the heart of Ayala Malls Abreeza in Davao City, crowds gathered not for a concert or a sale, but for a career fair unlike any other. Instead of job listings or paper resumés, there were game quests, guild meetups, and AI workshops. Welcome to the MFW Caravan, Yield Guild Games (YGG) Pilipinas' traveling showcase of how Web3 is reshaping the future of work.
The event was officially started by Evamay C. Dela Rosa, CESE, Regional Director, DICT Region XI.
“The MFW Caravan reflects a crucial shift in how Filipinos approach work. One that prioritizes digital skills, borderless opportunities, and economic empowerment,” she said. "We are laying the foundation for a more inclusive and resilient digital workforce in the Philippines."

In exclusive interviews with The Block and Beyond, we spoke with the people behind Metaversity to get a deeper understanding of how the program works, who it's for, and why it may be one of the most important upskilling efforts happening in the country today.
At its center is Metaversity, YGG’s flagship educational platform designed to upskill everyday Filipinos for the decentralized digital economy. The Davao City leg of the caravan drew students, parents, gamers, influencers, and developers into one interactive space, offering a real-time glimpse into what it means to become a Metaverse Filipino Worker (MFW).
More Than Gaming: A Mission to Upskill

"People know us for gaming, but Metaversity is really our learning playground."
Bianca Cruz, Metaversity co-lead, shared this during the event. A veteran in AI education and co-founder of 10XME Academy, which was acquired by YGG, Bianca is helping lead Metaversity’s shift from crypto-native education to practical, future-proof skill-building.
The platform provides short, on-demand courses in communication, leadership, marketing, and more. These are designed to fit into the busy schedules of digital workers.
“In just a few months since launch, we've had close to 9,000 users and a 50 percent course completion rate... That’s three hours of learning that can open doors to global digital gigs.”
But Metaversity is not just another online course site. It is intentionally built for people who learn differently.
“Some like lectures, others prefer peer-to-peer synthesis, while others want gamified progression.”
The platform reflects this variety. It offers live shows, community learning formats, and tiered skill badges that mimic video game achievements. The result is a more inclusive and engaging learning environment that adapts to the learner.
The Community Engine: Built by the People It Serves
That diversity of learning styles and community-driven spirit is exactly what Spraky, YGG Pilipinas Community Lead, believes keeps the movement alive, even during crypto’s harshest cycles.
"We built this in the bear market... Every day on our Discord, you’ll see 1,000 people hanging out, joining events, teaching each other. They feel at home."
Spraky, who once worked as a water utilities engineer, discovered Web3 through online forums. Today, he leads onboarding programs that include daily Discord activations and peer mentoring. For him, making education fun is not an added bonus. It is essential to making knowledge stick.
“You don’t feel like you’re studying. That’s when learning really sticks.”
From Internet Cafés to On-Chain Ownership
JB, the founder of NFTX Street, adds a hyper-local layer to the Metaversity mission. A long-time gamer, JB fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening a real-world gaming hub. That hub now serves as a space for onboarding Filipinos into Web3 through regular meetups and bootcamps.
“Ragnarok used to just be a game I played in college... Now it’s integrated in Web3. The items you earn, you actually own. You can sell them. That’s a whole new economy.”
But JB is well aware of the skepticism that surrounds Web3.
"When I tell people I work in Web3, they assume it’s a scam... But that's why community is key. You need people who can guide others through it, one conversation at a time."
Moms, Mentors, and Metaverse Converts
Julie, affectionately known as the "Mommy Influencer" of YGG, was introduced to Web3 by her daughter during the pandemic. A former corporate worker, Julie found that Web3 gave her something she had long missed—time with her family.
“Before, I had to miss my child's school milestones because of work. Now, I earn from home and never miss a moment.”
Beyond the financial benefits, Julie discovered that learning Web3 also helped her connect with her daughter on a deeper level.
“We bond over AI and blockchain. We talk about ChatGPT. It's a different kind of connection.”
Marketing the Future of Work
While Julie bridges family generations, Denika, YGG’s Metaversity Marketing Manager, focuses on building the brand and bringing the platform to more people.
“There’s a lot of demand for free online learning. The challenge is showing people where it leads.”
That challenge is addressed through the Marshall Program. This eight-week cohort allows Metaversity crash course graduates to specialize in tracks such as content creation, marketing, and community building.
“We don’t just want learners. We want confident professionals ready for digital careers.”
From the Community, for the Community
Supremo, YGG Metaversity’s Community Manager, didn’t start with a polished resume or leadership title. He began as a quiet community member, slowly working his way up through dedication and daily involvement.
“I used to be a regular in the Discord. Then I became a Sentinel, then a Lead Sentinel, and eventually got into the Marshall Program. That changed everything.”
Now, he manages Metaversity’s Marshall graduates and builds partnerships with schools and organizations to bring Web3 education to students early.
“We’re helping them earn and support their families while they’re still young. That kind of impact is why I stayed.”
Supremo left a full-time job in a logistics BPO to go all-in on Web3. For him, it’s not just a new career path. It’s a second chance.
“I’m not from an academic background. I never thought I’d end up in education. But now I get to help others find their place in this space too.”
Behind the Questing Curtain
One of those professionals is BirdBrain, or BB for short. Once a quiet community gamer, BB is now YGG’s official Quest Master. His journey began in the Marshall Program, where he learned how to analyze Web3 games for safety and quality.
"Before, I didn’t know if a game was a scam. Now, I can guide the community, 'this one's worth trying, that one’s fishy.'"
For BB, success is about more than financial gains.
“I was afraid to speak English before. Now I’m doing interviews and leading teams.”
A Guild Built on Grit

Boy Puso, YGG Guild Manager, is the one overseeing partnerships with dozens of other guilds. He believes that relationships, not incentives, are what create long-term loyalty.
“If you build relationships, people stick around. It’s not about money. It’s about trust.”
His advice to aspiring leaders is rooted in consistency and care.
“Even if your community is small, take care of them. Show up. Teach. Build.”
When Belief Becomes Currency
No one lives out that principle more fully than Kookoo Crypto TV, one of YGG’s most well-known creators. During the pandemic, Web3 helped him pay off years of debt. But it was not sheer luck. It was rooted in belief.
“Belief is like a placard on a jeepney. If you don’t know where you’re headed, you’ll get lost.”
His community-first approach is what makes him stand out. From guiding newcomers in forums to mentoring fellow streamers, Kookoo has become a steady presence for those just starting their journeys.
“You don’t need to show your face. Just ask. Just try. It all starts with a single question.”
The Metaverse Filipino Worker, Defined
From Bianca’s AI-powered curriculum to Julie’s parenting transformation, from JB’s gaming café to BB’s game analysis, one theme connects every story shared during the caravan in Davao City. Web3 is no longer a distant concept. It is becoming part of how Filipinos learn, earn, and build community.
The Metaverse Filipino Worker is not simply a buzzword. It represents a growing shift in how work, learning, and identity converge in the digital age. And for many in Davao City, that shift has already begun.
