Eat, Scan, Earn: Ryori Brings Web3 to the Filipino Dining Table

What if every customer review helped a business grow and gave the reviewer something in return? Ryori is turning that question into reality, integrating tokenized rewards, analytics, and a smooth ordering system into a single experience that reimagines what dining out can look like.

Across the Philippines, a quiet transformation is happening in the way people dine. It’s not loud or flashy, but it’s fast, frictionless, and quietly brilliant. Ryori, a food-tech platform built in Davao, is bringing blockchain technology into everyday dining without making customers feel like they need a degree in crypto to understand it.

In an interview with The Block and Beyond, Jurris Tolosa and Maann Laeno offered a behind-the-scenes look at how Ryori is reshaping the dining experience in the Philippines.

Jurris, UI/UX lead, highlighted Ryori’s goal of making advanced technology feel effortless, bridging the gap between Web2 familiarity and Web3 functionality. Maann, who serves as Ryori’s marketing head, emphasized the platform’s mission to empower small and mid-sized food businesses by simplifying operations and boosting customer satisfaction

At first glance, Ryori looks like a modern ordering app. But underneath the clean interface is a Web3 system that rewards users for participating. Whether it's placing an order through a QR code or leaving honest feedback after a meal, Ryori gives back in the form of RYO tokens, which are digital rewards that can be used across the entire Ryori network of restaurants.

Turning Dining Into a Digital Experience

Ryori is designed to simplify the restaurant experience for both customers and business owners. Diners scan a QR code at their table to browse the menu and place their order directly from their phone. No need for waitstaff, no long queues, and no delays.

On the business side, the technology streamlines operations. Orders go straight to the kitchen, inventory is automatically tracked, and AI-generated reports provide data on sales trends, peak hours, and customer preferences. Restaurants gain efficiency while offering better service.

“We minimize the long wait times. We speed up the service... That’s one of the best benefits for the restaurant owners.”

It’s not just about replacing old systems, it’s about creating a smarter experience for everyone.

Web3 Without the Headache

One of the standout features of Ryori is its Eat2Earn system, which blends blockchain rewards into the dining experience in a subtle but powerful way. After a customer finishes a meal, Ryori prompts them to leave feedback. That feedback is then rewarded with RYO tokens.

“It’s like the customers will not realize they’re using blockchain already... There’s no need for complexity. It’s just like they’re using GCash.”

Customers who already have a Solana or ICP wallet can input their address and receive RYO tokens directly. For those unfamiliar with crypto, Ryori plans to release onboarding videos to help users get started, bridging the gap between Web2 ease and Web3 potential.

These tokens are more than just points. Businesses can configure them as discounts, currency within the restaurant, or special offers. It creates a full-circle system where customer engagement directly fuels business data, and businesses can reward that engagement instantly.

More Than Just QR Codes

While QR-based ordering is Ryori’s most visible feature, it’s far from the only one. The system includes ingredient-level inventory management, performance tracking, real-time analytics, and feedback collection, which are all accessible remotely by restaurant owners managing multiple locations.

“Restaurant owners are able to access their businesses remotely anytime and anywhere... Even if it has multiple branches.”

This approach not only makes management easier but also allows smaller food businesses to operate like larger, tech-powered franchises without the high cost or complexity.

Built From Real Experience

Ryori wasn’t created in a vacuum. Its founder, Francis, had firsthand experience running a restaurant that eventually closed down during the pandemic. That frustration, along with the common pain points of long wait times, miscommunication between staff, and inefficient ordering, fueled the desire to build something better.

The result is a system built from the ground up to address the problems restaurant owners face every day. And it does so with an interface that’s easy to learn, navigate, and adopt, even for those who aren’t tech-savvy.

Ryori is already expanding its feature set. Future updates include offline functionality, improved AI-powered analytics, and deeper blockchain integrations, possibly even bringing supply chain tracking into the blockchain ecosystem.

More importantly, Ryori is proving that Web3 doesn’t have to be intimidating. It can be useful, easy, and even invisible, just part of how we dine.
